East Coast Boondocking

Over the last year many of our readers have become familiar with Katherine and Boyd Jarvis who have submitted numerous breathtaking photos of their Northern Lite truck camper around North America. The other day we opened up our email box and were happy to discover a new batch of mazing photos from the Jarvis’s recent trip covering Ontario and Newfoundland.

This fall the Jarvis’s spent 5 weeks on the road in the Northern Lite travelling from Ontario’s cottage country to the coast of Newfoundland. Their trip took them east, along the north shore of the St. Lawrence to the end of Hwy 138 at Kegashka. Katherine and Boyd then backtracked to Baie Comeau, then headed north to Labrador, travelling along the Trans Labrador Hwy. When they reached Blanc Sablon, Quebed, they carried on along Hwy 138 west bound to Old Fort Quebec. The Jarvis’s then reversed course back towards Blanc Sablon and hitched a ride with the ferry across the Strait of Belle Ilse to Newfoundland. Once in Newfoundland, Boyd and Katherine traveled around exploring the coastline and the towns of the region, eventually crossing back to Nova Scotia through Argentia and then headed along Gaspe and the south shore of the St. Lawrence.

The trip was full of beautiful scenery including numerous sightings of seals and whales. Over the 5-week period, the Jarvis’s only spent 4 nights in campgrounds where they connected with friends and caught up on laundry. (Travel Tip: Newfoundland Provincial Parks have cheap laundry facilities that are much nicer than laundromats!). The rest of the time was spent boondocking at numerous stunning locations along the coast.
